It has been brought to my attention over the last few weeks that I am not necessarily what some people might consider a lazy girl. Now I don’t deny that (it’s all right there on my ‘about’ page) but I did think it was worth giving you a little more insight into why – with all the options out there – I went with Lazy Girl Fitness, and what it means to me. Let me start by giving you a few facts:
My exercise habits are not perfect
My eating habits are not perfect
I have to fit my own training around a full time job, a part time job and writing this blog
Sometimes I don’t feel like training
Most of the time I do it anyway
I am passionate about animal welfare, dog rescue in particular
I don’t stretch enough
I love my family
Sometimes I eat cereal for dinner
I had some reasonably significant issues with food as a teen and in my early 20’s
I still battle to remember that food should not be thought of as ‘good‘ and ‘bad’
I love any kind of lower body plyometric exercise
I am stubborn
Some would say argumentative
I would argue with that
I hate pull ups
I love being stronger than people assume I will be
Exercise makes me feel good
OK so what was the point of that? Look back at that list. See anything familiar? Maybe a few things? I hope what you see is that the issues I face are the same issues you probably face everyday – lack of motivation, time constraints, emotional issues and self doubt. And the things that drive me are probably the same things that drive you too.
Truth is, sometimes I just feel….. lazy. And that’s what LGF is all about. It’s about accepting that being yourself and doing your best is good enough. And if that means you’ll never be a vegan, a Paleo fanatic, an Olympic athlete, a raw food devotee, a yogi or someone who exercises seven days a week, then so be it. Mind you, it doesn’t mean you should just accept life as a couch potato – it means YOU should do what YOU can, to the best of YOUR abilities, to be the person that YOU want to be.
My hope is that LGF will be there when you need a little inspiration – my workouts are generally simple and and relatively short, so they don’t feel overwhelming for exercise newbies, but they’re still challenging enough for anyone who is exercising regularly. My recipes are so simple even I can make them, and the other stuff – well it’s just bits and pieces I’m interested in. Hopefully it’s enough to keep you entertained, and if you’re inspired to act on it yourself – well, to me that’s just a bonus.
So that’s it – that’s LGF in a nutshell. Thanks for coming along for the ride xx

This is my fave blog post of yours to date; I love reading about the people behind blogs and this was great insight into why you started LGF (though I must admit Effie scares me a bit!).

Thank you – I thought it was time to defend myself against all those highly defamatory accusations suggesting I’m not a lazy girl! And Effie is not to be feared, the most harm you’ll come to with her around is an attack of puppy kisses…
