Getting away for the weekend can be good for the soul, but there’s no doubt that it can also put a dent in the most well-laid exercise plans. So what to do when you’re away from the comfort of home with a hankering for some calorie-burning? Well, the good news is that you don’t have to have a lot of space, equipment (or even shoes for that matter!) to fit in a cheeky workout.
I had a couple of days away this past weekend, and I figured I could save a little room by leaving my joggers at home and designing a workout that could be done on the carpet.
No shoes means no added support which in turn (for me) means instability. So I was careful not to include any single-limb jumping movements that would create an issue. Here’s what I came up with:
Simple Hotel Room Workout
Push ups x 12
Squat jumps x 12
Tricep dips x 12
Single leg bridge x 12/leg
Mountain climbers x 30
Bulgarian lunges x 12/leg
(Repeat four times)
Daily Abs Challenge (Day 20)
Crunches x 65
Reverse crunches x 65
Bicycle x 120
Plank x 75 secs
Side plank x 10/sec per side
It’s nice to have an indulgent weekend away every now and then, but it’s also nice to keep your body moving so you don’t get home feeling ‘blergh‘ and regretting said indulgences!
This is a great workout to have on hand for when you’re stuck in a hotel or visiting friends and want something you can do in your bedroom where you won’t be disturbed (or judged for being weird). It uses no equipment (besides the chair or bed you’ll need for dips and lunges) and you should be done in around 30 minutes, including the abs component.
Enjoy, and have a great week!
