Thank goodness Friday has finally arrived! I’ve been feeling really flat this week – probably a combination of my dadda heading home, the cold creeping in and this unpredictable weather! Lou has a storm-phobia, and while I’m we’re very lucky to be surrounded by people who look out for him, it doesn’t stop the anxiety whenever I see ‘possible thunderstorms’ on the radar – which seems to be every second day at the moment!
Anyway, I had an awesome session with my Tuesday night n2n group and I wanted to share it with you, because it’s a great workout to do whether you’re a one-man band or catering to a cast of thousands. It’s called the Deck of Cards, and I originally heard of it from Lauren, a friend of mine who is a PT in Brisbane (you can follow her here). It goes a little something like this:
Deck of Cards
What you need: A well-shuffled deck of cards (shocking, I know)
Each suit is allocated a particular exercise
The card number is the amount of reps you must complete
Ace is 1, Jack is 11, Queen 12 and King 13
Jokers can be discarded or allocated an exercise
Flip the cards one at a time, making your way through the entire deck
Don’t be tempted to switch cards if it gets too difficult!
Complete for time – rest and hydrate when necessary
I stuck with the basics and chose the following for my LGF version:
Hearts – push ups
Diamonds – sit ups
Clubs – squat jumps
Spades – chest-to-ground burpees
Joker – 200 high knees
All up you’ll do 91 reps of each exercise. It took my guys 23:09 so I was pretty darn impressed. They weren’t, because it left a lot of extra time to fill with more pain.
Here’s to a more positive end to the week Team – and if you could organise to keep the storms away for a while I’d be much obliged!
