I love being surrounded by people who have the same passion for health and fitness that I do. I love to hear about their exercise routines, what they like to eat after a workout, what they like to listen to when they’re pounding the pavement and what it is that inspires them to push through their pain barrier or ignore that the little voice in their head that tells them to hit the snooze button.
And then I started thinking; if I like to hear about that sort of thing, then you probably do too! And so Five Fit Minutes was born.
Every Friday I’m going to bring you a little insight into the life of a Lazy Girl Favourite, starting with Gorgeous George – nutritionist, entrepreneur, lover of fun and fresh air and the creator of g. luxe muesli and snacks. She’s also a very good friend of mine and I couldn’t think of anyone I’d rather kick off with….
Name: Georgina Smith
Occupation/where do you work? Nutritionist/muesli maker/Self employed at g. luxe
What does your weekly exercise routine look like? At the moment, I aim for 1-2 spin classes, 1-2 yoga classes and 1 home workout (being a run, bike or weights). I also love a morning walk and coffee…
Whatʼs your fave place to workout? I love a warm yoga studio in the winter! And beach in summer.
Whatʼs your fave music to work out to? Dance/chart music (played loud!).
Describe your workout fashion style: I like to wear tight pants (Lululemon variety), a good bra and a ripped sleeve t-shirt. If I’m running outside, a visor is essential.
Someone tells you they are too tired/lazy/unmotivated/busy to work out. What do you say in return? Exercise is essential to body and mind wellbeing. It is so important to make it a part of your lifestyle. Get out there and youʼll remember it feels good! And itʼs addictive. Also something awesome I like to keep in mind – always work out on a Monday and never leave exercise more than three days.
Your favourite post-workout meal? I prefer working out first thing in the morning. So post workout meal is of course g. luxe muesli for breakfast!
Favourite exercise? Spin
Least favourite exercise? Back strengthening exercises! i.e that damn cobra!
If you could only do one type of exercise for the rest of your life, what would it be? Yoga. It’s such an all-round winner – for body, heart and mind.
And finally…. what is your favourite thing about being fit? Feeling good in my body. Feeling lean, agile, strong, tight.
