I feel like Cherida is exactly the kind of girl you’d want on your side if you found yourself in some kind of physical fight. She might be tiny, but the girl is fit, fast and STRONG. She’s be ducking and weaving and smashing out a few uppercuts before your enemy even knew what hit them. Literally. Plus, she’d fool them all with her sweet demeanour. And in unrelated but equally excellent news, she loves wine.
Yep, I know I’d want her on my team.
Hashtag perfect…
Name: Cherida Forde
Occupation/where do you work? Owner at YP Active; instructor at Bottoms Up! Fitness
What does your weekly exercise routine look like? My alarm goes off between 5am (if I’m teaching) & 5.20am (if its my own personal training). My workouts are different each day, from functional training at UFC to yoga/Pilates practise, to stair runs and classes with Agoga Gym or Bottoms Up! Fitness.
What’s your fave place to work out? Tough question! It depends on the day to be honest – for example after teaching this morning to the most epic sunrise over Bondi Beach going for a beach run was amazing! Other mornings where I want to train hard, fast, and just be completely focused on only me my fave place is UFC gym.
What’s your fave music to work out too? Anything that is upbeat – but my taste is so varied, now for instance I am loving Hilltop Hoods – Cosby Sweater and Beyonce – Girls Rule The World. Two completely different styles haha!
Describe your work out fashion style: It has to be functional, comfortable, stylish and I need to feel good when I’m wearing it. If you’re feeling good about yourself before you work out you’re guaranteed to feel even better once you’ve finished! Fave brands at the moment are Lululemon and Slinkii.
Someone tells you they are too tired/lazy/unmotivated/busy to work out. What do you say in return? ‘Well don’t complain to me about how gross and unfit you feel!’ At the end of the day it is up to the person to take control of their actions and do something about it. We as fitness professionals can only offer so much support and guidance but the bottoms line falls on the individual and deep down they know that and how good they feel once the work out is done. And to be honest what keeps me motivated to work out is that ‘feeling’ of how good I feel once I’ve finished a good sweat session.
Your favourite post-workout meal? Well my training is normally first thing in the morning so its a breakfast meal for me! And like my workout routines my breakfasts are different each morning too! I love a good green smoothie though: Frozen banana & blueberries, fresh coconut (flesh and water), chia seeds, Moringa superfood powder, walnuts, turmeric!
Favourite exercise? Boxing
Least favourite exercise? Sprints
If you could only do one type of exercise for the rest of your life, what would it be? Jess you are pulling out the big questions now! Can I say boxing again?! Or if you mean purely just one exercise I would say a lunge – as with a lunge you can do them stationary, walking, jumping, lateral, with free weights, on a chair – in other words, so many variations! And with me variation is the KEY!
And finally…. what is your favourite thing about being fit? Again I would have to say without a doubt they way it makes me feel! It gives me energy, confidence, clears my head and overall I feel happier and healthier!
