We’ve all skipped out on a workout or two in our time, but when excuses becomes the rule rather than the exception, it’s time to take a look at those excuses, why you’re using them and how to overcome them and re-discover your workout motivation….
Fridays are for fun, right? And although some of us (me! me!) would consider a 45-minute gym session fun, I’m willing to accept that not everyone feels the same. So… what to do when you want to do something, but not that. When you want it to be short, sweet and to the point? A 15-minute HIIT workout of course!…
Exercise doesn’t have to be expensive. It doesn’t have to mean gym memberships and personal trainers or fancy home gyms. What it does require is a little imagination. If you open your eyes to the world around you, you’ll see myriad opportunities to take advantage of your surroundings. It might be the playground at your child’s school, the park down the end of your street or the stairs to your apartment block. Or – as was the case during my trip home over Christmas – it could be the boat ramp and rowing club in town….
So Team, apparently we’re having an arctic snap. I don’t really know what that means, but I’ve taken to wearing a singlet, a long sleeve top, a duck down vest, a duck down jacket and some gloves every time I leave the house, so to be honest we could be in the middle of an actual blizzard and I’m not sure I would notice.
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again – there’s something very impressive about strong glutes and legs. Forget the thigh gap, because seriously what good does that actually do you in the real world? Wouldn’t you rather know that you can kick stuff? Run if you were being chased? Climb a 6-foot fence because you were locked out of your apartment? (yep, that happened this week)….

Boost your immune system and get through winter unscathed with a little help from these top tips from Rosemary Eddowes, Naturopathic Herbalist at the stunning Solar Springs Retreat in Bundanoon….
Mondays. It’s fair to say that not many people really truly love them. It’s kind of a shame really, because they offer so much; a fresh start, a clean slate, a whole week of opportunity! But I won’t go into that in too much detail because hearing that on Sunday night will probably make you want to hit me….
God I love weekends. Don’t get me wrong, the working week is fine too, but W-E-E-K-E-N-D-S. I’ve had my bro and sister-in-law in town since Friday, so this has been an extra special one. Lots of eating, swimming, walking, drinking, shopping and relaxing. Just the way a weekend should be, in my humble opinion. Oh and Messina, did I mention Messina? Because there was definitely some Messina….
The countdown to Christmas is well and truly on (YAY!) so starting tomorrow I’ll be posting a new mini workout each day. The workout is cumulative (just like the song), so by Day 12 – which also happens to be Christmas Eve – you’ll get a killer workout that’s sure to alleviate any pudding-associated guilt….
The end is nigh! Just five more ‘work’ days and you will be able to say that you completed the LGF 28-Day Upper Body Challenge. Or as I like to call it, Hell.
