I just met one of the world’s ‘good’ people. Good kind of seems like an understatement actually, but I’m not 100% sure how else to describe her. Let me tell you the story – it’s only a short one – and you can decide for yourself….
Things I Am Thankful For
Us humans are funny creatures. So many of us seem programmed to look on the negative side of things… to see the grey cloud instead of the silver lining, the rain rather than the rainbow. I know I’ve been guilty of this on many an occasion (lord knows how many times my Dad has told me to stop seeing the glass as half empty!) but something has changed within me recently, and I am really finding myself feeling joyful at the most unexpected of moments. So much so that I’ve decided to put together a list of the things I am grateful for….
The Benefits of Social Fitness
Some of the most enjoyable experiences of my life have involved social fitness. From organised events like the City 2 Surf or Tough Bloke Challenge through to lunchtime runs with workmates or casual outdoor sweat sessions and beach walks, I don’t think there’s anything better than getting sweaty with friends (and strangers for that matter). That’s why I’ve never understood why some people choose only to socialise when there’s alcohol involved….
Valentine’s Day: a Single (Lazy) Girl’s Guide
Listen, most of us wouldn’t say no to a little Valentine’s Day excitement, right? A bouquet of flowers just big enough to make us blush, dinner at our favourite restaurant (or better yet, a lovingly prepared home-cooked meal), a little Paradise by the Dashboard Light (woo! Meatloaf!) blaring through the speakers…

The Importance of Being Flexible (with your workouts at least)
It’s pretty widely acknowledged as fact that for optimum results, you should always ALWAYS go into your workout session with a plan. But what about when you just don’t wanna do legs? You simply cannot do another push up. You will DIE if someone makes you do another kettlebell swing. You can’t! You won’t!

Facing the Back-to-Work Blues
Blergh. Like a lot of other people, I’m suffering from a case of the back-to-work blues this week.
FACT: no matter how much you love your job, the end of the holidays is never any fun.
The good news is that we can control just how difficult the transition back to reality is with these five simple tips….
2013 – My Year in Review
I can’t believe that today is the last day of the year! 2013 has been quite a journey for me, with some incredible highs and not-so-great lows – a similar story to pretty much everyone else I’d imagine. And while I know a lot of people say you should never look back because you’re not going that way, personally I think there’s some merit in taking a little time to reflect on the year that was and the lessons you learned. After all, those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it [that’s George Santayana, if you’re interested]….
8 Tips for When You Don’t Feel Like Working Out
Earlier this week I had a question from an LGF follower. She said that she’s been struggling to find motivation for her cardio sessions, and asked if I had any tips. The more I thought about it, the more tips I came up with… so much so that I thought the topic deserved a blog post of its own… and here it is!
It’s a fact of life that not every workout is going to be one you look forward to. Whether it’s a style of training you hate or one particular exercise that has you running for the hills, I’ve got a few tips to help you make it through your session unscathed.

Girl Power (aka Why We Should Support Each Other)
One of my friends has spent the last few of months training for a Big Event. It’s the kind of Big Event that requires both physical and mental fortitude, the kind of Big Event that pushes you outside your comfort zone and then some. She’s been training like a trooper – hours on the road, in the gym and in the yoga studio – to ensure her body is in peak condition when the day of the Big Event arrives.

The Biggest Exercise Mistake I Made this Week
These days I’ve become much better at listening to what my body is trying to tell me. If I’m having a flat day I’ll program myself a less intense gym workout, if I’m feeling a bit rundown I’ll up the greens and supplements in my diet and if my body wants a little chocolate – well, as you know by now, I give it that too. But there’s one area I really fall down in, and that’s running.
