I have a confession to make. Despite all my good intentions, I did not manage to fit either a run or a circuit session in today. I know, I know, I’m as disappointed in myself as you are. Actually I’m not really. The thing is, Sunday exercise is a bit of a bonus session to me. I try to make sure I’m never reliant on it because let’s face it – it’s the day I’m most likely to get caught up with other more pressing items like seeing friends, having brunch, sleeping and shopping.
Anyway, the day kind of got away from me. After getting soaked to the bone while taking Lou on his usual Sunday adventure through Centennial Park, I decided to jump in the shower, do the grocery shopping and then pop by Earth to Table in Bondi Junction for a raw food extravaganza. As usual it was delicious. Next on the to-do list was a quick stop at Bondi Junction Westfield to pick up a couple of things. And that’s where it all unravelled… has anyone ever really made a ‘quick stop’ at Bondi Junction Westfield on a rainy Sunday? No. Like the bowerbird I am, I was immediately drawn to the bright colours of the fabulous new (newish?) Lululemon store. It looks like they’ve done a complete refurb, taking over the shop next door at the same time. Anyway it looks AMAZING and I went on a mini-spree, picking up two pairs of new tights and a new tank. Gym clothes are my absolute favourite kind of shopping spree and (at the risk of over-stating things) I am now the proud owner of literally the coolest pair of tights in the known universe. I can’t wait to get into the gym with them!
Anyway, by the time I made it home I still had to finish the onerous task of re-skinning my blog (I hope you like the new design) plus cook up a huge batch of deliciously warming chicken and vegetable soup to get us through the hideous week of cold weather we have in front of us. Which brings us to now, and the fact that it’s 7pm, the soup is simmering away and I haven’t had a chance to train today!
Instead of beating myself up about it through, I’m going to do a little routine that I have on standby for when it gets to this hour and I feel like I need to get my body moving. It can be done in front of the TV and it goes a little like this:
100 squat jumps (or bench squats) – do in sets of 10
30 pushups – do in sets of 10
30 burpees – do in sets of 5
200 mountain climbers – do in sets of 20
250 high knees – do in sets of 50
100 crunches – do in sets of 20
You don’t even need to repeat this one – just start at the top and work your way down!
This routine isn’t designed to replace a regular workout (mind you, nor is it designed to be easy) – it’s just a little something to get your body moving on those days when you don’t have the time for anything else.
And on that note, this is it from me tonight! I’ve got soup to eat, a post to upload and a mini workout to complete, so I’d better get cracking!
