Christmas gift giving is one of my favourite things. The thought that goes into each present, the time spent wrapping and tying ribbon, the look on the recipient’s face when you nail the gift… it’s almost TOO much fun! Call me sad if you will, but you know what, my name is Jess and I’m a Christmas-aholic.
Now, I know not everyone is as crazy about Christmas shopping as I am, so over the next fortnight I’ll be putting together a few gift guides to help you out. They’ll all have a fitness/health theme of course, and I hope you find them useful. This week we’re shopping for the men-folk in our lives. Enjoy!
Top 10 Christmas Gifts for Guys
Garmin Forerunner 10 (RRP $149)
This bad boy is everything most runners will need in a GPS watch, and then some. It tracks distance, pace and calories, gives you your lap time, allows you to plan and share your runs at Garmin Connect AND the design is pretty stylish too. It’s available for both men and women (I have the lime green women’s version) but I’m a fan of the black and silver for men. Available at most electronic stores and sports stores.

Sporting Tickets
Summer is a sports lover’s heaven – from cricket and football, to the Australian Tennis Open, there’s something to suit all tastes and budgets.
iPod Shuffle (RRP $55)
In my humble opinion, this is close to the best 55 bucks you’ll ever spend. Clips onto your clothes easily for those long runs or gym sessions, and slips easily into a pocket for the bus ride to work. Available pretty much everywhere.
Nike Flyknit Lunar1+ (RRP $200)
Not only do these shoes look the business, they were also voted ‘Editor’s Choice’ by Runner’s World in February 2013. The flyknit technology was inspired from feedback by runners, but this shoe is good for so much more than just running. The perfect combination of breathability, bounce and support, these shoes will feel just as good pumping weights at the gym as on a long trail run. Plus, they’ll improve the wearer’s street cred by at least 100 points. Available in any Nike store or online at Nikestore.com.au

Adrenalin Voucher
Adrenalin is an online supplier of unique gifts, perfect for the thrill seeker. Featuring over 2,500 adrenaline-fueled activities across the globe – from aerobatics and parasailing to luxury boat experiences and quad biking – there’s something there for every man!
A Goat from OXFAM
For just $39, you can buy a goat for a person living in Mozambique. Do it on behalf of someone else as a Christmas gift and Oxfam will send them a Christmas card on your behalf. Goats breed more goats, provide milk for a family and a family can even sell it to pay for school fees or tools. Not in goats? What about a chicken ($10), literacy classes ($40) or a piglet ($37)?
Perfect for anyone just starting out or wanting to set up a home gym. This handy little set comes in a handy plastic carry case and includes a barbell, two dumbbell bars, spin locks and a range of weight plates. Available at Amart Sports right now for $149.99.
Lululemon Cross Tech Short Sleeve Top (RRP $89)
Is your man still wearing his grubby old Bintang singlet to the gym? Help him out a little in the fashion department with this stylish AND functional Lulu top. The fabric is anti-stink (always a plus) and it’s stretchy, without being overly tight. Be warned though, once he’s worn Lulu you’ll have trouble getting him in anything else. Available online or at any Lululemon store.

2XU 1/2 Compression Short (RRP $80)
Who wears short shorts? These bad boys are perfect for wearing under regular shorts while exercising. They’re breathable, light and provide good muscle support – what more could a man need?
Franklin Backyard Volleyball Set (RRP $49.99)
What could be more fun that a cheeky Sunday afternoon game of backyard volleyball. This set includes a 608cm net, official sized volleyball and storage bag. It’s the most fun you’ll have all sumer AND it’s available at Rebel Sport right now for $39.99.
So there you have it! I hope I’ve helped you to tick one or two people off your list, or at the very least provided you with a bit of inspiration to get started on your shopping! I’ll be back next week with the next of my Christmas Gift Guides.
Until then – happy shopping!
Great list. I will be sharing this with our fitness retreat guests. Thanks for doing the leg work!
My pleasure! Present shopping is one of my favourite things to do!
