I first met Lozzy a few years ago when she was just a wee little tyke, running the City2Surf for the first time. She was full of energy and totally crazy back then, and not much has changed since. Oh, except she’s now a qualified personal trainer and has just completed her Masters in Dietetics and taken on a full time role as a dietician. And she’s still only 23.
Lauren is genuinely one of the most motivating people I know. She’s fun, vibrant and everyone’s friend. But best of all, she’s real. Check out her Instagram (link at bottom of page) and sure, you’ll see some pics of her looking glammed up and like a total babe, but you’ll also see her sweating hard and working like a bitch during her training sessions. And in my opinion, that’s pretty much the perfect recipe for inspiration.
So how does this fabulous little over-achiever do it all? Let me enlighten you…
Name: Lauren Priest
Occupation/where do you work? Dietitian/personal trainer about to commence full time role in Yamba, NSW.
What does your weekly exercise routine look like? Lately I have been doing two strength sessions, two pool sessions and a long run. It always changes though, depending on what my latest goal is!
What’s your fave place to workout? Outdoors! I love Kangaroo Point in Brisbane and running along the Brisbane River.
What’s your fave music to work out too? Anything upbeat! Spotify usually sorts it out for me.
Describe your workout fashion style: I have a huge Lululemon and Lorna Jane collection. I love to wear colour so I’ll usually wear tights or shots with a bright crop and singlet plus visor or headband.
Someone tells you they are too tired/lazy/unmotivated/busy to work out. What do you say in return? Everyone has the same 24 hours in a day. If you have time to watch TV you have time to work out – I’ll go with you! I love to motivate and support other people to get active.
Your favourite post-workout meal? A smoothie made in the Thermomix. Usually some Shape Health protein powder with fruit, yoghurt and almond milk or coconut water.
Favourite exercise? Lifting heavy weights, eg. squat or deadlift.
Least favourite exercise? Movements that test my flexibility.
If you could only do one type of exercise for the rest of your life, what would it be? Running! All you need is a pair of shoes and you can do it absolutely anywhere! Plus the post-run endorphin release is like no other.
And finally…. what is your favourite thing about being fit? Feeling strong and healthy, plus having the energy to get everything done in my busy schedule. Also, having people tell me that I motivate them to be fitter/healthier.
