Listen, before you say anything, I know; days 13 through 16 were just so darn good you don’t know how you’re going to handle the rest of the month. You will though. You’ll get through it one day at a time my friends, just one day at a time.
The next four days see the return of a familiar format. Like the beginning of the Challenge, we’re targeting the entire body each day. Unlike the beginning of the Challenge, your rest time now sits at only 10 seconds per round. Make the most of it! Days 21-24 introduce the Tabata protocol. If you don’t know anything about Tabata you should check out this blog post I did on it a while back. But if you just can’t be bothered, here’s what you need to know: Each Tabata is only four minutes in total, consisting of a 20 second high intensity work period followed by 10 seconds of rest, completed eight times. It’s an awesome type of high intensity interval training and I use it a lot with my clients, as well as in my own sessions. If you do it right you should desperately need that two minute rest period I’m giving you! And be cautious; it’s not for everyone and if you feel like you need to dial it down a notch please do; listening to your body is very important.
I’ve also put together a few helpful hints for a successful #LGF10aDay – ignore them at your peril:
- Commit to doing the Challenge at the same time every day and no matter how tempting, DO NOT SKIP A DAY – it’s all about consistency.
- Rope in a few friends and do it together – working out is more fun (and easier!) with a friend.
- If you don’t recognise an exercise, check my pictorial exercise index here or use the search function on my blog. If you still can’t find it, make friends with YouTube. All exercises are relatively simple; you shouldn’t have much trouble finding them.
- Save the workout plan (image above) to your phone so you’ve got it readily available at all times.
Keep up with the Challenge on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest. And show me your workouts/progress using the hashtag #LGF10aDay. I’m playing along too, and I’m loving sharing the good times with you!
I can almost smell the Christmas pudding Team! xx
