LGF 28-Day Abs Challenge – Starts Today

August 12, 2013 By LazyGirlFitness 5 Comments

CHECK OUT THE NEW AND IMPROVED LGF 28-DAY ABS CHALLENGE HERE
———————————————

I don’t think I’d be going out on a limb here to say that we all want better abs and a stronger core. Trouble is, by the time most of us get to the end of a workout, there’s no time for anything more than a few token sit ups (if that). I’m one of the worst offenders out there when it comes to skipping ab-work, so I thought I’d throw down the gauntlet to myself – and anyone else who wants to join me – and commit to a 28-day program designed to improve core strength and yes, achieve better stomach definition.

I know I know, it’s a little vain. And perhaps, given the pain my super-tight hip flexors give me, you could also call it a little stupid. In fact, that’s pretty much what my physio did when I told him, although his exact words were a little kinder – ‘have I taught you nothing?’ Sorry Nick.

Anyway, onto the challenge itself:

My 10 Favourite Exercise Excuses

July 25, 2013 By LazyGirlFitness 5 Comments

Excuses for not exercising are the best. They’re fun, imaginative and – much like the old ‘dog ate my homework’ trick – they’re also completely transparent. Here are 10 of my favourites, as well as some rebuttal for you to use next time you find yourself in an internal argument about whether or not you’re going to the gym.

The Biggest Exercise Mistake I Made this Week

July 18, 2013 By LazyGirlFitness Leave a Comment

These days I’ve become much better at listening to what my body is trying to tell me. If I’m having a flat day I’ll program myself a less intense gym workout, if I’m feeling a bit rundown I’ll up the greens and supplements in my diet and if my body wants a little chocolate – well, as you know by now, I give it that too. But there’s one area I really fall down in, and that’s running.

It’s OK to be Human

July 16, 2013 By LazyGirlFitness 12 Comments

Whatever you do, don’t think about a puppy. Do not think about a cute little pink puppy tummy, just waiting for you to rub it. In fact, do not even think about thinking about a puppy. Stop it. Stop thinking about a puppy!

This is rescue puppy Pikelet’s pink tummy (https://www.facebook.com/LifeOfPikelet) – he’s from BDR, same as Lou (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Big-Dog-Rescue/163626563707750?fref=ts). Please check them out!

11 Easy Ways to Add Incidental Exercise to Your Life

July 11, 2013 By LazyGirlFitness Leave a Comment

No doubt you hear the term ‘incidental exercise’ bandied about fairly regularly, but maybe (like many people) you don’t quite understand what it is, and the huge health benefits it can bring. So, what actually is incidental exercise, and how can you apply it to your life to help you burn more calories and lose weight faster? Well in short, incidental exercise is the exercise you get when exercising is not your main objective. (Phew, try saying that five times fast.) It’s the stairs you take two at a time on the way into the office or running for the bus in the morning. And while incidental exercise should never be seen as a replacement for dedicated exercise, it really can make a difference to your health, particularly if weight loss is your main objective.

Simple Workout for Beginners

July 4, 2013 By LazyGirlFitness 6 Comments

If you haven’t done much in the way of exercise since compulsory PD/H/PE classes ended in year eight there’s no doubt that many of the workouts out there (and even on here) could be a little intimidating. Training run with my bro

My brother and his fiancé have been visiting for the past few days which is super cool for a lot of obvious reasons, but one thing I wasn’t counting on was how awesome it is to have someone to train with. Generally I’m more than happy to train alone but I’d forgotten what a positive effect a training partner can have on your session.

My very first adventure race

Adventure racing is to fitness what skinny jeans are to fashion. They’re fun, fabulous and oh-so-on-trend, but the jury’s still out on what we’ll think when we look back at photos of ourselves in them 10 years down the track. Whether they’re here to stay or simply another fitness fad is yet to be seen, but one thing I can tell you is that they’re a hell of a lot of fun!
