September 22, 2013 By LazyGirlFitness Leave a Comment

We had yet another stunning weekend here in Sydney, so what better way to spend some time than out in the backyard (or on the balcony) with a little LGF workout. As we’ve discussed previously in this blog post here, there’s a lot that can be done with a set of small-ish dumbbells and your own bodyweight.

8 Tips for When You Don’t Feel Like Working Out

September 19, 2013 By LazyGirlFitness 4 Comments

jump.happyEarlier this week I had a question from an LGF follower. She said that she’s been struggling to find motivation for her cardio sessions, and asked if I had any tips. The more I thought about it, the more tips I came up with… so much so that I thought the topic deserved a blog post of its own… and here it is!

It’s a fact of life that not every workout is going to be one you look forward to. Whether it’s a style of training you hate or one particular exercise that has you running for the hills, I’ve got a few tips to help you make it through your session unscathed.

Girl Power (aka Why We Should Support Each Other)

September 12, 2013 By LazyGirlFitness 2 Comments

One of my friends has spent the last few of months training for a Big Event. It’s the kind of Big Event that requires both physical and mental fortitude, the kind of Big Event that pushes you outside your comfort zone and then some. She’s been training like a trooper – hours on the road, in the gym and in the yoga studio – to ensure her body is in peak condition when the day of the Big Event arrives.

LG Motivation – The Shrinking Hubby

September 3, 2013 By LazyGirlFitness 2 Comments

TSH5
Sometimes a story comes along that is too inspiring not to share. For me, this is one of those stories.

A few months ago (when LGF was just a twinkle in my eye) I was toying with the idea of starting a health and fitness blog and chatting to a good friend of mine, Clementine, about it. Clemmy mentioned a fabulous blog called The Shrinking Hubby, full of clean, healthy and (most importantly) simple recipe ideas. I’m always on the lookout for new meals to add to my limited repertoire, so as soon as I got off the phone I was onto the internets to check it out.

If this was the City2Surf, you’d be almost at the top of Heartbreak Hill right now – the going gets tough this week (really tough) but you’re starting to feel like you can almost see the finish line and it feels GOOD! If you’re starting to struggle, don’t be afraid to split your workout up – do half in the morning and half before bed. Simple 15-Minute Workout

July 29, 2013 By LazyGirlFitness 2 Comments

I might be a personal trainer, but that doesn’t mean I’m immune to the occasional bout of exercise-itis. Sadly, I know too much to be able to convince myself that skipping a workout entirely is a good idea, but I do believe in tweaking your workout to suit your mood/body/schedule when necessary. Sometimes this might mean switching Pump for yoga or your run for something lower impact, like swimming or cycling. And at other times it’s as simple as committing to a shorter workout rather than ditching training altogether.

One Fence, Five Ways

July 14, 2013 By LazyGirlFitness 3 Comments

If you’ve been following my blog here for a while (well, the 10 weeks that it’s been going anyway), no doubt you’ll be aware that many of my workouts are designed to be undertaken outside in the fresh air. As an outdoor trainer, it’s possible that I’m a little biased, but I do think there’s something special about training amongst nature, with the smell of freshly cut grass, rain and the occasional dog poo.

What’s not to love about the great outdoors?
